Home Oxygen Company Earns Audit Reprieve

California respiratory and sleep provider notches its fourth 12-month break from TPE audits.

Thanks to a success ratio of more than 90 percent of recent audit decisions, California sleep and respiratory provider Home Oxygen Company has earned its fourth reprieve from Oxygen audits.

CMS contractor Noridian Healthcare Solutions notified Home Oxygen Company it had completed Round 1 of the Targeted Probe and Education (TPE) audit process and wouldn’t have complete Round 2 or Round 3 of the audit. As a result, the Audit file has been “closed.”

“This is a collaborative effort between intake and A/R teams resulting in compliant files,” Home Oxygen Company CEO Andrea Ewert said. “We continue our process for success despite the scrutiny on DMEPOS providers”.

After earning a reprieve from oxygen and sleep audits in 2017, Home Oxygen Company received notification that Noridian had selected it for TPE audits. Then, this year, Noridian notified Home Oxygen Company that it was on the list for for the TPE audits of oxygen-related files passing again on the first round.

“I have absolute confidence in our abilities to process orders in the manner Medicare requires,” Ewert added. “In fact, it has been noted that all of our CMN’s were completely filled out accurately with no mistakes found.”
