SP Industries Taps Larkin to Replace Downs as CEO

As part of that post, the long-time medical device industry veteran will oversee the company's HME manufacturing division, Maddak.

SP Industries has named Brian Larkin as its new president and CEO.

Through its division SP Ableware – Maddak, SP Industries is a manufacturer of home medical equipment, rehabilitation products and aids for daily living.

A 27-year veteran of the medical device industry, Larkin brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with previous stints as vice president and general manager at Becton Dickinson's US Diabetes Care, senior vice president and general manager of LifeCell Corporation, and 16 years at Integra LifeSciences Corporation in a variety of executive roles including president of the company's neurosciences division and president of the spine and orthobiologics division. Currently, Larkin serves on the board of directors for Dynatronics.

Outside of the Maddack division, SP Industries is a provider of laboratory equipment and supplies, freeze dryers, drug manufacturing tools and specialty glassware.

"I am honored to join SP Industries as our new president and CEO," said Larkin in a prepared statement. "The company has an exciting portfolio, innovative technology pipeline and superb team of experienced professionals. They've done a tremendous job developing and bringing together market-leading equipment, apparatus and labware to create exceptional value for our customers. I'm looking forward to building upon that successful legacy and guiding SP to an even brighter future."

Larkin will replace William (Bill) Downs, who retired as CEO in February.

"We are truly appreciative of Bill Down's dedication and thoughtful leadership of SP," said Bill Roller, SP Industries chairman of the board, in a news release. "As we move forward, we are confident that Brian's proven success in managing complex businesses, building high performing teams and delivering sustainable results make him ideally suited to lead our diverse business."
