FAHCS: Florida Medicaid Providers to See 7.5-Percent Rate Increase

DME providers working with Florida’s Medicaid program can expect a 7.5-percent rate increase starting in July, the Florida Alliance of Home Care Services (FAHCS) said in a May 4 announcement.

“Through the hard work of stakeholders, FAHCS Legislative Committee including AAHomecare and VGM, and our lobby firm — the Griffith Group — FAHCS was able to achieve a big win for the HME industry in Florida,” the announcement said. “In the approved budget, there is a 7.5-percent rate increase to the Medicaid fee schedule that will begin July 1.”

FAHCS added that “proviso language” says the increase “is to be passed along to the providers.”

The Alliance credited “years of relationship building between FAHCS and the legislature, and FAHCS and the Department and its staff” for the new increase. “Our industry has gained many supporters and was highlighted by the pandemic by the value we give to the healthcare continuum. So many more now understand the importance of HME.”

FAHCS thanked Sen. Gayle Harrell (District 31), Rep. Sam Garrison (District 11), and the American Health Care Association (AHCA) for their support as well.

FAHCS President Sylvia Toscano said in the announcement, “This is evidence of your FAHCS membership investment at work that achieved a Medicaid rate increase for the first time in 23 years! Congratulations to FAHCS and the members and committees that worked so hard to get this win for the industry!”
