Home Access

At their core, home access products give patients perhaps the most central component of independent living: the full use and enjoyment of their homes. Tasks such as climbing stairs and freely moving from room to room are made easier with home access products.

Obviously patients with mobility limitations are good candidates for home access products, and of course the market for home access products also includes older patients that still want to live in their homes, as opposed to moving to an assisted living facility. A recent AARP study that showed that 89 percent of homeowners over the age of 45 prefer to remain in their homes, yet 80 percent of the population will require special housing needs at some point.

While some providers are working with general contractors to install more specialized home access solutions, there are still a variety of solutions available to providers seeking entry points into the home access market. These include stairlifts and other patient lifts, ramps, solutions for the bath and others. Here are some of the latest offerings on the market:
