Respironics Continues Expansion with New Customer-Service Facility

Respironics opened a new facility in Plum Borough, Pa., devoted to its customer-service activities. Dedicated to Audrey McGinnis, the wife of Respironics' founder Gerald McGinnis, the 33,000 square-foot building houses the company's call-center operations, as well as other Respironics groups, including product and clinical support, sales, finance, logistics, and more.

According to the company, the new building will enhance operations, facilitate response times and provide its customers with excellent service. Edge Studios architects and Bruce Construction worked on the project.

"This happens to be National Customer Service Week," said Dale West, a Respironics vice president. "We can think of no more fitting tribute than to recognize our first customer relations representative, Mrs. Audrey McGinnis . . . While Jerry McGinnis focused on designing medical devices to help save people's lives, Audrey was on the front lines to ensure our customers' needs were met."

The Plum Borough expansion builds on Respironics move beyond its 32-acre campus in Murrysville, Pa., driven largely by growth in the company's operations and workforce, which jumped 5 percent during fiscal year 2007. Another new facility slated for construction on a site near Murrysville is a 165,000-square-foot building manufacturing sleep-therapy devices.
