Rehab Program Announced For August

Providers of power mobility, manual mobility or seating & positioning will convene at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey on Aug. 8, 2007, when the Pennsylvania Association of Medical Suppliers (PAMS) will present a day with the Medical Director for Medicare Jurisdictions A & B, TriCenturion, LLC., Paul J. Hughes, M.D.

The conference, which is presented by PAMS and Education Partner Pride Mobility Inc., will feature a comprehensive policy and documentation program for clinicians and provider staff, complete with CEU's awarded from the University of Pittsburgh. The program was developed in direct response to requests for a follow-up to last fall's highly successful advanced mobility seminar in Cranberry, Pa.

The program will provide a solid base for provider intake, compliance, reimbursement and ATS/CRTS staff. It will also clarify documentation and medical record requirements for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, facility and home health OT's and PT's, case managers, discharge planners and physician office managers. Attendees will:

  • Hear the documentation requirements from the policymaker on power, manual or positioning products;
  • Develop valuable strategies to avoid poor Medicare audit outcomes from the ice President and General Counsel of TriCenturion;
  • Learn from an internationally recognized clinician and professor from the University of Pittsburgh;
  • Participate in a forum for providers to pose questions, challenge answers, suggest options and help drive resolution to the problems associated with obtaining the pertinent portions of the medical record.
  • Nationally prominent speakers: In addition to Dr. Hughes, the program will feature:

  • Jeff Wheeler, Esq., Vice President and General Counsel, TriCenturion, LLC.
  • Mark Schmeler, PhD, OTR/L, ATP, University of Pittsburgh.
  • Panelists will include Laraine Forry, vice president of government relations and compliance for Air Products Healthcare and chair and of the DME MAC Jurisdiction A&B Advisory Committee; Georgie Blackburn, vice president of government relations and legislation for Blackburn's and rehab chair for the DME MAC Jurisdiction A&B Advisory Committee; and Debbie Libby, PAMS rehab committee chair, of Susquehanna Valley Mobility.
  • Further information on the conference can be obtained at pamsonline.org. or by calling (717) 795-9684.
