CMS Backs Off Original Bid Deadline by One Week

You thought it might happen, but you didn't dare hope. The good news is that CMS last week extended the deadline for the submission of competitive bids in the first 10 rollout cities until 9 p.m. Eastern Time on July 20. The deadline for registration is also extended ? you have until July 7 to register and receive a User ID.

The bad news is that the extensions are only for a few days and don't signal any kind of policy change by CMS. National competitive bidding is, for now, proceeding apace despite continuing rumblings in the Congress and pending action in the courts.
