Get Moving This Summer With Vehicle Lifts

With the official start of summer kicking off this weekend, clients who want to take a road trip or maybe just head to the local park have to be equipped with vehicle lifts that can transport their power chairs or scooters. How do you know the best type of vehicle lift for your client?

Chad Williamns, president of Harmar Mobility, Sarasota, Fla., said that outside, inside and hybrid lifts all have inherent benefits.

Outside Lifts

The simplest of the lift solutions, outside lifts require no vehicle modifications and come in a wide variety. Cargo space is spared because the mobility device is transported outside the vehicle rather than inside.

Inside Lifts

Drilling into the vehicle is required for inside lifts, but these devices enable the client to transport a power chair or scooter inside the vehicle. Wireless remotes and fully powered models make these lifts a great solution. According to Wiliams, inside lifts are considered a more convenient mobility soluton, particularly in areas prone to inclement weather.

Hybrid Lifts

Known for their convenience and ease of operation, hybrid lifts provide simple installation and wireless remote controls. "These platform-style lifts are mounted in a vehicle's interior and combine the convenience of drive-on, dirve-off simplicity with the added protection of storing a mobility device inside a vehicle," Williams says.

Vehicle lifts offer convenience and minimal user effort. "The auto lift makes their mobility equipment mobile, allowing the user to take their chair wherever their car can take them," Williams says.
