AAHomecare to Lend 'Helping Hand' for Home Care

At an impromptu news conference on March 23, the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) and VNU Expositions announced plans for the second annual AAHomecare Humanitarian Dinner.

Last year's event raised $75,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The organizations involved are hoping for the same success at this year's Sept. 19 event, which is to be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis during Medtrade Fall.

Funds from the event will benefit two patient groups — one for rehab and mobility and another for respiratory. The specific organizations had not been disclosed at press time.

Tom Ryan, AAHomecare chair and president/CEO of Homecare Concepts Inc., Farmingdale, N.Y., said the event is "one way to let (Washington) know we are a caring, supportive industry."

Harvey Diamond, president and CEO of Drive Medical, Port Washington, N.Y., remarked that the industry makes a living "because of people who have issues. It's great for us to get together … and give back." Drive Medical is sponsoring the event.

Tickets cost $2,500 per table of eight. Ryan and Diamond anticipate a sold-out event, with 500 people in attendance.
