The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has outlined frequent standards deficiencies by DMEPOS uncovered by surveyors in a special Quality Review edition of its publication, The Surveyor.
Reflecting the results of site surveys performed by ACHC between June 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022, 13 standards were cited on more than 20 percent of the surveys performed, according to Tim Safley, MBA, Senior Program Director for ACHC.
Of those 13 standards, the most frequently cited standard in the surveys was standard DRX7-12D, which concerns policies and procedures for product cleaning, storage and safety. Safely underscore the standard “has a direct impact on patient safety.”
Available as an online flipbook, the publication provides details on each oft-cited standard, comments on deficiencies, examples of surveyor findings, and tips for compliance.
