FAHCS Hosting Legislative Conference, Holds ‘Crucial’ Meetings

The Florida association is urging members to attend its Legislative Conference on January 24-25 in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Florida Alliance of Home Care Services (FAHCS) will hold its Legislative Conference on January 24-25 in Tallahassee, Fla., and is urging the members to attend.

Registration, agenda and accommodations information can be found at www.fahcs.us/event-5053145.

The Jan. 24 agenda includes a FAHCS board meeting; issues briefing and talking points from experts American Association for Homecare payer relations vice president Laura Williard and FAHCS lobbyist Tom Griffin; and ends with the FAHCS dinner.

Then, Jan. 25 sees the event transition to legislative meetings with members put into groups and given a schedule of meetings to attend throughout the day.

“There will be meetings with champions and key legislators that will carry our agenda forward, so please register now to attend this day-and-a-half conference,” statements from the association read. “It is being held at a very important time. We need you there.”

In terms of timing, the conference is coming on the heels of a slate of recent meetings FAHCS advocates had with state lawmakers and officials that the association said were “crucial.” These included:

  • AHCA Secretary Simone Mastiller, Chief of Staff Jason Weida, and Medicaid Director Tom Wallace.
  • Brian Clark, Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee Staff Director.
  • Rep. Sam Garrison, Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee Chair.
  • Rep. Fiona McFarland.
  • Rep. Michelle Salzman.
  • Tonya Money, Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services Staff Director.
  • Senator Colleen Burton.
  • Tim Sadberry, Senate Appropriations Committee Staff Director.
