Invacare Unveils AVIVA STORM RX
The rear-wheel-drive chair offers a compact base to and other features to increase maneuverability and stability while also giving users performance and easy set-up, customization options.
Invacare Corp. has rolled out its AVIVA STORM RX power wheelchair, a new rear-wheel-drive power mobility option that offers increased maneuverability and a variety of performance and usability features.
Design-wise, the chair is set up to be nimble and stable. A short wheelbase and narrow width give the AVIVA STORM RX a compact footprint for increased maneuverability.
The flared front end supports the use of the center mount foot platform for overall turning radius reduction, enables the legs to tuck under the chair up to 7˚. It also helps users get closer to their environment and facilitates easier stand pivot transfers.
A new, patent-pending SureGrip suspension system aims to provide a smooth and silent driving experience indoors and outdoors.
A Rear anti-tipper utilizes a shock absorber to help respond to vibrations and noise, providing a smoother, quieter ride. The drive motor is pushed down to aid traction as the rear anti-tipper is engaged over a bump and the front caster bearing has an elastomeric dampener to help reduce vibrations and impacts.
Adaptive load compensation helps the motors interpret, learn and adapt to changes and helps to ensure the drive of the power wheelchair is optimized and balanced over time.
In terms of speed, users can choose between a 5.8 mph or 7.5 mph high-performance motor package.
For set-up, the chair leverages LiNX® technology to enhance and ease the set-up process with new and improved features. This includes pre-set programming parameters; live wireless programming; and integration with ASL specialty controls.
For maintenance, the chair’s “open stack” design facilitates easy removal of the tires, wheels and hubs, gearboxes, and motors. Also, all electronics are placed at the rear of the unit, with wiring and connections easy to see and access once the rear cover is removed.
Other features include customization through eight new shroud colors and 11 wheel-insert colors, and a standard LED lighting system that helps users illuminate the area in front of them.
