Western Medical Refreshes Lithium Battery Line

Now named the EXP PRO, the batteries can be used to power PAP devices while traveling and offer features that make them well suited to even more rugged activities, such as camping.

Western Medical Inc. has refreshed the brand identity for its lithium battery line, including giving it a new name: the EXP PRO.

Formerly dubbed the EXPION 360, the EXP PRO batteries are used to provide backup power for PAP and other electronic devices. Each battery is splash proof, shock-resistant, and comes with port covers to help keep out the unwanted dirt and grime, which makes them well-suited for not just travel and power outages, but more rugged adventures, such as camping trips.

The batteries consist of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), which Western Medical said offers advantages over standard lithium batteries provided by most manufacturers. LiFePO4 is considered safer battery chemistry, according to Western Medical, and has a much longer life span (up to 10 times more life cycles), and is more environmentally friendly than cobalt-based lithium-ion batteries, the company stated.

"We are very excited to be able to offer a lithium technology that offers some great advantages over the standard lithium battery offered by most other manufacturers," Western Medical President Mike McGaffey said. "Obviously, there are a ton of options for portable power on the market today, so in order to stand out from the crowd, we realized we needed to offer something different. From the battery technology to the design and durability of the case that houses these batteries, we feel we have a great product that will stand the test of time for anyone needing backup power."
