Health Mobius Extends e-Commerce Services to Pharmacies

Independent pharmacies can now tap into turnkey webstores that let their clients choose and purchase from more than 40,000 HME and wellness products.

HME distributor Health Mobius has expanded its full-service e-commerce services to support independent pharmacies, in addition to HME businesses.

The company’s online shopping platform, an integrated marketplace connecting consumers with more than 40,000 healthcare products, is now available to independent pharmacies.

The news comes as Health Mobius has seen providers secure new revenue streams during COVID-19 by supporting increased stay-at-home orders and changing shopper habits.

How fast are those orders increasing? Sales via e-commerce grew 49 percent in the United States in April, while in-store foot traffic has declined, according to Adobe’s Digital Economy Index, which tracks 80 of the nation’s top 100 online retailers.

“Small businesses and brick and mortar retail locations have struggled in response to changing consumer shopping habits in the wake of COVID-19, including independent pharmacies that serve diverse communities across the country,” said Kamal Haddad, CEO, Health Mobius. “As shoppers go online, small businesses need cost-effective e-commerce tools to compete with the giants like Amazon and Walmart. When we looked at the pharmacy owners we serve, they didn’t have easy access to an expansive virtual inventory nor the technology to compete online — so we created them.”

Like for its HME customers, pharmacies can now tap into a product catalog of 40,000 health and wellness products from 250 companies. Health Mobius then provides and operates the webstore behalf of those pharmacy customers, including website hosting, maintenance, design, branding, product pricing, payment processing, detailed reporting, and customer service.

“Pharmacy owners and home healthcare providers needed innovative solutions to compete with online retailers before COVID-19 changed the shopping environment, but in its wake the urgency has accelerated for small businesses competing with large eCommerce brands,” Haddad said. “It is no longer a future option for small business owners in the healthcare field, pharmacies and providers must be where their shoppers are — and that’s increasingly online.”
