Emerald Cancels In-Person Medtrade 2020

Conference and expo originally slated for Nov. 2-4 in Atlanta will not take place due to COVID-19, but Emerald will host a virtual event.

Emerald, the producers of longtime HME event Medtrade, have announced that it is canceling the Nov. 2-4 edition of the annual industry conference and expo due to COVID-19concerns.

While scheduled to be hosted at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center, restrictions placed on large gatherings by the State of Georgia and other public health agencies, made hosting the event difficult.

Additionally, the internal travel prohibitions and limitations being enforced by attendees and exhibitors, as well as other state and federal data, travel limitations and other pandemic-related factors, increased that difficulty to the point of impracticality, according to Emerald.

“Since 1979, Medtrade has brought the Home Medical Equipment industry together to connect, share ideas and experience the newest HME technology and personal health products; our goal is always to support this remarkable community,” a statement from the company read. “ … Continued developments and uncertainty have made it impossible to bring our community together safely and successfully in Atlanta.”

To replace the event, Emerald will host a Nov. 4-5 Medtrade Virtual Conference and has advised Medtrade attendees and exhibitors to monitor their email and social media for more information.

Medtrade’s next in-person event is its recently re-branded Medtrade West, which runs April 12-14, 202 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

“We are working with the venue and planning to ensure we host a productive, safe and healthy event for our customers,” the Emerald statement noted.
