Sunrise Medical Partners With Team Gleason To Offer Seat Elevators to ALS Patients

The collaboration is part of Team Gleason's financial assistance program, which provides funding to people seeking smart home technology, communication devices and more.

Through a new partnership with the ALS-focused foundation Team Gleason, Sunrise Medical plans to donate seat elevators to ALS patients applying for assistance through the foundation.

Eligible patients will submit a request on Team Gleason’s website and mark their interest in “Wheelchair Seat Elevator Grant” to be considered. A staff member from the foundation, founded by former New Orleans Saints player and ALS activist Steve Gleason, will then reach out to the applicant and decide whether to approve the request.

Blair Casey, the assistant executive director for Team Gleason, said he is very excited to work with Sunrise on the project.

“This collaboration will allow our team to continue meeting the extraordinary needs of the ALS community by providing products that enhance greater independence and mobility,” Casey said in a statement.

The partnership allows Sunrise to expand its focus on improving people’s lives, said Pete Coburn, the company’s president of U.S. commercial operations.

“We are committed to providing innovative, high-quality mobility products to improve the independence of individuals who use power wheelchairs,” Coburn said.

In addition to the seat elevator grant, Team Gleason also provides financial assistance for ALS patients seeking communication devices, smart home and home automation technology, message and voice banking and more.
