Health technology company WellSky announced on Oct. 8 that it has signed an agreement to acquire ClearCare, a software platform used by personal care agencies. The transaction will close after it’s subject to regulatory approvals.
WellSky CEO Bill Miller said that the addition of ClearCare would help add a “new dimension” to his company’s offerings in the post-acute and community care markets.
“With our shared vision of using interoperable technology to manage individuals across the care continuum, together, we can improve outcomes and close gaps in post-acute and community care,” Miller said in a public statement.
ClearCare’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform caters to personal care providers, which support people who need in-home caregivers to go about their daily lives. The personal care industry has grown as America’s population ages and more people need assistance with cooking, bathing, going to doctor’s appointments and more.
The ClearCare platform helps providers manage their billing, referral management, care delivery and staff management processes in one interface. More than 600,000 caregivers from 4,000 personal care agencies in the United States and Canada use ClearCare to manage care for some half a million seniors every year, according to ClearCare.
The acquisition gives ClearCare access to expanded resources and the ability to launch new functionalities and connections to other care providers, according to ClearCare founder and CEO Geoff Nudd.
“WellSky understands ClearCare’s mission to help personal care agencies operate efficiently and scale as payment models evolve and patient volumes shift to lower acuity settings of care,” Nudd said in a statement. “We’re excited to combine our expertise and solutions to support our clients in even more ways.”
